Two programme lines are combined under the roof of the Künstlerhaus Lauenburg. Promising talents from the fields of contemporary visual arts, literature and composition are supported by the house’s renowned fellowship programme. The exhibition programme is managed by the affiliated Stadtgalerie Künstlerhaus Lauenburg. Here, an independent programme of contemporary art takes place in the shared exhibition spaces of the two buildings. In addition to an exhibition and event programme, the Stadtgalerie also offers an open studio education programme and promotes artistic positions in the public space of the city of Lauenburg.
A key aim of Künstlerhaus Lauenburg is to promote contemporary visual artists, authors and composers who take innovative positions in their respective fields through fellowships, exhibitions and work opportunities. Therefore, Künstlerhaus Lauenburg offers three residency fellowships each year in the fields of visual arts, literature and composition, as well as a working fellowship for artists with children, funded by the state of Schleswig-Holstein. During the rest of the year, it provides working, living and exhibition space for artists. Since 2021, the Künstlerhaus has also awarded a “scholarship by invitation” to artists who work site-specifically.
